Child sexual exploitation (CSE) involves under-18s in exploitative situations, contexts and relationships. Every year in Wales hundreds of children are being sexually exploited and in the wake of learning from Rotherham and other cities, Children in Wales is offering a one day course to raise awareness of Child Sexual Exploitation.

 

This course gives anyone who works with children, young people and families the opportunity to know their statutory responsibilities in dealing with exploited children, how to spot signs, definitions and models of CSE and professional responses within the Welsh context.

 

This one day course will consider:

  • Consider why children go missing

  • Effective working and partnerships

 

Who the course is aimed at:

Professionals and practitioners working with children, young people and families in social care, health and education, other statutory agencies, voluntary and third sector organisations.

 

About the Trainer:

Cheryl has over 20 years’ experience of working in social care, in a variety of roles including foster care, child protection, youth offending, equality and diversity and domestic abuse. Her experience and knowledge of child sexual exploitation comes from her work as a foster carer and in youth offending. She has been a qualified trainer for 8 years and delivers a variety of training to a wide range of professionals and practitioners. She is also a qualified counsellor and independent mediator.
